ABOUT ME
Faraz Afzal is a physician and board-certified specialist in internal medicine and cardiology, educated at the University of Oslo. He completed his medical degree in 2007 and earned a PhD in cardiology and pharmacology in 2010. His clinical background includes extensive experience from Diakonhjemmet Hospital and from two of Norway's leading cardiac centers - Akershus University Hospital (Ahus) and Rikshospitalet where he currently practices as a cardiologist.
Throughout his career, he has assessed and managed a wide range of cardiovascular conditions, with significant experience in cardiac arrhythmias, atrial fibrillation (AF), pacemaker and ICD implantation and follow-up, and the evaluation of patients with chest pain, heart failure, and palpitations. His work involves referrals from both general practitioners and private specialists, giving him broad insight into complex clinical presentations.
Alongside clinical practice, he is strongly committed to evidence-based cardiology, clinical decision-making, and medical education. Through Legesnakk.no, he publishes clear, updated, and clinically relevant content designed to support healthcare professionals in cardiology assessment and acute decision-making - while also helping patients and families better understand cardiovascular symptoms, diagnostics, and treatment options. The platform is non-commercial and driven by a genuine commitment to improving cardiovascular knowledge, enhancing patient safety, and supporting high-quality clinical care.
